Original 1920 50 Heller Notgeld emergency currency note issued by the municipality of Ruppersthal, Lower Austria (Niederösterreich).
Features an attractive village and church scene surrounded by grape and agricultural imagery. The reverse states that the note was redeemable by the municipality until December 31, 1920.
German motto translates approximately to: “He who does not appreciate the small things is not worthy of the great.”
Nice example of Austrian post-WWI emergency currency with period signatures/validation markings.
