Original 1921 German 50 Pfennig Notgeld issued by Neuhaus in Westfalen.
This colorful local emergency-money note features the former bishop’s residence (Bischöfliche Residenz) on one side. The reverse has a charming early postal/travel scene showing a horse-drawn mail coach departing Neuhaus, with destinations marked Amsterdam and Wien (Vienna).
The inscription beneath the coach refers to the first post routes toward Vienna and Amsterdam beginning from Neuhaus, giving the note a particularly nice transportation and postal-history theme.
