Original 1921 German Notgeld issued by the city of Zörbig, then part of the Prussian Province of Saxony.
This colorful 25 Pfennig emergency-money note features the Zörbig city coat of arms on the front and a portrait of German writer Victor Blüthgen (1844–1920) on the reverse, along with decorative German verse. It belongs to Zörbig’s “Persönlichkeiten” (Personalities) series.
The note was redeemable through the Zörbig municipal savings bank through September 30, 1921. The design is credited to H. Schiebel.
A very attractive piece of early Weimar-era German local currency with strong artwork and historical interest.
