Charming vintage elephant planter marked “Made in Occupied Japan” on the underside.
This hand-painted ceramic elephant features a raised trunk, large sculpted ears and a colorful floral planter or basket mounted on its back.
The creamy crackle-glazed body is accented with muted green, pink, blue, yellow and brown details.
Produced during the Allied occupation of Japan, approximately 1945–1952.
