This scarce bronze advertising medal features a mounted Boy Scout on the obverse with the inscription “The Original Boy Scouts’ Shoe” and “July 1910.” The reverse displays the crowned BS emblem with lion and griffin supporters above a banner reading “Excelsior Shoe” and the surrounding inscription “Manufactured by The Original Boy Scout Shoe.”
Unlike official Boy Scouts of America medals, this is an early promotional advertising piece issued for Boy Scout-branded footwear, making it desirable to both scouting memorabilia and vintage advertising collectors.
